A comforting homemade chicken soup perfect for any day, packed with flavor and simple ingredients.
Ingredients
Method
- Place chicken, carrots, celery, and onion in a large pot. Cover with cold water.
- Bring to a boil, skim foam, then simmer for 90 minutes with lid slightly ajar.
- Remove chicken, cool, then shred. Discard skin and bones.
- Strain broth, discard vegetables or chop and return. Rinse pot and pour broth back in.
- Add shredded chicken and chopped veggies back to the broth. Warm through.
- Season with salt, pepper, and bouillon if using. Add herbs if desired.
- Serve hot, with bread or noodles if preferred.
