Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • cup cold shortening or unsalted butter
  • 1 cup milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until coarse crumbs.
  4. Add milk and stir until dough forms.
  5. Knead gently on floured surface for 15–20 seconds.
  6. Pat or roll to 2.5cm thick and cut biscuits.
  7. Place on baking sheet and bake for 13–15 minutes.
  8. Serve warm.
