Ingredients

  • 500 g lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cm fresh ginger grated
  • 1 red bell pepper finely diced
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 1 tbsp chili garlic paste (or more to taste)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 head butter lettuce or cos lettuce separated into cups
  • Fresh coriander (cilantro) chopped, for garnish
  • 2 spring onions (scallions) thinly sliced, for garnish

Equipment

  • gordon ramsay food

Method

  1. First things first, get your gordon ramsay food hot over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil, then the lean ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until it's beautifully browned and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if needed.
  2. Now, toss in the minced garlic, grated ginger, finely diced red bell pepper, and the diced onion. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables start to soften and become fragrant.
  3. Stir in the chili garlic paste, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Mix everything together really well, making sure the beef and veggies are coated in that amazing sauce.
  4. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavours to meld and the sauce to slightly thicken. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary – maybe a little more chili for a kick!
  5. To serve, spoon the delicious chili beef mixture into individual lettuce cups. Garnish generously with fresh chopped coriander and thinly sliced spring onions. These are best served immediately for that ultimate crispy crunch!
