Method
- Sprinkle yeast over warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix yeast with milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening, and half the flour. Stir until smooth.
- Add remaining flour gradually until dough is smooth and non-sticky.
- Knead for 5 minutes, let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Roll to ½ inch, cut doughnuts, and let rise again.
- Melt butter, mix with sugar, vanilla, and hot water to make glaze.
- Heat oil to 175°C, fry doughnuts until golden, drain on rack.
- Dip warm doughnuts in glaze, let excess drip off.
