Method
- Boil potatoes in salted water for 10–12 min. Drain and steam-dry.
- Brown sausage in oven-safe skillet. Add shallot and cook until soft. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in tomatoes, sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning. Simmer 5 min.
- Mash potatoes with butter, salt, pepper, milk, and cheese until smooth.
- Spread mash over sausage mixture. Top with fried onions.
- Broil 3–5 min until onions are golden and crispy. Serve hot.
